Exercises in Style - Audiobook
Adaptation of the book "Exercises in Style" by Raymond Queneau, the project "Exercises in Style – Audiobook" consists of the transposition of the original text into an innovative format within a contemporary context, in this case, an interactive audiobook platform.
This approach arises due to the oral nature of Queneau's written book, a short narration described in different styles, enhanced by modern text-to-speech technologies, which, when on the platform, allow it to reach new audiences, due to the accessibility of the app on mobile devices. Each of the 137 original texts were assigned a person, that is, a different perspective. This allowed for the humanization of the written text, while personifying each person through the choice of the type of intonation and its duration to tell the narrative.
The app simulates the layout of a bus, the location where the narrative takes place, where one can navigate in a "surprise" mode, in which users can randomly choose which testimony they want to hear, or in an "ordered" mode, through a list in the same sequence as the original book. Thus, by selecting a passenger and their interpretation of the story, it is possible to listen to them, while following the correspondent subtitles.
This care ensures that the adaptation for the audiobook platform preserves the unparalleled integrity and impact of the work, but explores and enhances reading as a new experience, enabling a fusion between oral tradition and technological innovation through an intuitive interface and a user-centered approach.
