Porto d’encontro

"Porto d’encontro" was developed in response to the "Happy City" challenge proposed by Everythink, aimed at encouraging the retention of the "Millennials and Xennials" generation (the age group of 25 to 40 years) in the Porto district, enhancing their happiness and well-being.

After a user research process, it was possible to understand that this target audience is interested in investing in experiences, culture, and personal interaction. However, due to a lack of time and money, they do not do so as regularly. The goal was also to create a closer connection within the generation itself and between them and the city, promoting Porto as a place of leisure and cultural diversity.

Thus, the "Porto d’encontro" project was born, consisting of the implementation of 10 different large-scale physical maps in various locations around the district. Each map contains a QR Code that provides access to an augmented reality experience presenting the different types of events and activities that are or will be happening in that area, in an interactive, fun, and efficient manner. Additionally, it features personalized filtering by theme, date, time, and price of events.

The AR experience is integrated into a website that allows users to view all the events from the 10 district points, not just the one where they are located. Events are also organized chronologically in an agenda on the site. The website is available in both mobile and desktop versions, where users can create an individual profile to view events and activities they add to their favorites.

"Porto d’encontro" stands out as an innovative platform for the use of augmented reality, in a unique and connecting manner between the user and their surrounding environment. It also features a simple interface with quick and effective personalized filtering, promoting not only large-scale events and existing alternatives but also small activities, providing a broader range of offerings for this generation.
